Healing Hands Health Center is happy to help the community of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia in terms of their medical needs. Here are some of the stories of the patients that were helped by Healing Hands.
Alicia Robertson, 61, had been complaining about her missing teeth. Being a child who grew up in a large family, money was scarce, and dental care was the least of their worries. First, Alicia went to a dentist in Blountville and was told that there is nothing they can do for her. She was embarrassed about her teeth, so she tried another dentist’s office. This office did provide treatment; however, the teeth were so uncomfortable that she wasn’t able to chew very well or smile.
You don’t realize until they are gone how much not having teeth effects your overall health. There are a lot of things you can’t eat. Your body doesn’t get the nutrition it needs. I wouldn’t smile because I felt uncomfortable. It is hard to work when you feel like people are judging you because you don’t have teeth. My Aunt and a District Manager where I work helped me find Healing Hands Health Center.
In October of 2019, life threw me a curve ball! I was a senior at ETSU, working two part-time jobs and did not have health insurance. I had not been feeling well for quite some time. I visited an area urgent care clinic where they conducted blood tests and found my blood Sugar levels to be alarmingly high. From there I was hospitalized and later diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Shortly after the diagnosis, a friend told me about Healing Hands Health Center.
