Make a Capital Campaign Donation
We recently announced that the Care Foundation has awarded Healing Hands a grant in the amount of $695,000 which represents approximately half the total cost of a new student housing and educational center. The new building will be located across the street from the clinic on lots donated by Dr. Sarfraz and Audrey Zaidi and by Ballad Health.
An important aspect of the ministry of our charitable clinic is exposing students of various clinical disciplines to the concept of healthcare as a Christian ministry. Through relationships with The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, East Tennessee State University Dental Hygiene Program and Quillen College of Medicine, Appalachian College of Pharmacy, King University College of Nursing, Virginia Highlands Community College Nursing Program and Wytheville Community College Dental Hygiene Program, students from these schools do portions of their clinical training at Healing Hands. In fact, over 100 students rotated through Healing Hands last year and they often speak of the gratitude of our patients and of their own gratitude for the opportunity to make such an impact on the lives of uninsured people who receive care at Healing Hands.
In order to expand the impact of our relationships with schools, we need additional dormitory rooms. Dental students, for example, come 4 at a time from Memphis for two-week rotations and stay in a small 2-bedroom house we own. The ability to provide safe and comfortable accommodations is essential. Another need is for a larger conference/class room so they can have meetings, take tests and Skype their professors. Also planned is a teaching Wellness Kitchen to educate our patients on the importance of nutrition to their overall health.
Any donation you can make to this project will be greatly appreciated. If you would like to discuss naming opportunities, please call Helen Scott at 423-652-2516 or email her at email@example.com.
